We began by using number discs, but it was a little confusing for us to comprehend because we are used to using the number discs for addition. So, we tried something else.
The "Brothers and Bullies" method provided a great visual for the students and they better understood how to subtract. Soon, we will be able to just replace the brothers and bullies with the number discs and be able to work these problems as quickly as the addition problems. We began this today, so we are still learning, but practice makes perfect!
